The Urdu community forms a significant part of the expatriate population in Kuwait and Abu Dhabi, UAE. With a strong work ethic and diverse skills, members of the Urdu community have contributed greatly to the economic and social development of these countries. However, despite their contributions, unemployment remains a pressing issue among this community in both Kuwait and Abu Dhabi. One of the major challenges faced by the Urdu community in Kuwait and Abu Dhabi is the language barrier. Urdu speakers often struggle to find suitable employment opportunities that match their skills and qualifications due to the prevalence of Arabic and English as the dominant languages in these regions. This language barrier can hinder their job search efforts and limit their access to a wide range of job opportunities. Additionally, the lack of recognition of qualifications and work experience obtained outside of Kuwait and Abu Dhabi can also contribute to unemployment among the Urdu community. Many highly skilled individuals within the community may find their qualifications unrecognized or devalued in the local job market, leading to underemployment or unemployment. Another factor that may contribute to unemployment within the Urdu community is a lack of networking opportunities. Building professional connections and networking plays a crucial role in securing employment in competitive job markets like Kuwait and Abu Dhabi. Due to cultural and social barriers, Urdu speakers may face challenges in expanding their professional network, which can impact their job prospects. Moreover, discriminatory hiring practices and unequal opportunities based on nationality can further exacerbate the issue of unemployment among the Urdu community in Kuwait and Abu Dhabi. Despite their qualifications and skills, Urdu speakers may face prejudice and bias from employers, leading to barriers to entry and progression within the workforce. Addressing the challenges faced by the Urdu community in Kuwait and Abu Dhabi regarding unemployment requires a multi-faceted approach. Encouraging language learning programs, fostering recognition of international qualifications, providing networking opportunities, and promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace are essential steps towards creating a more equitable and inclusive job market for the Urdu community. By recognizing and addressing these challenges, Kuwait and Abu Dhabi can tap into the immense potential and talent within the Urdu community, leading to a more diverse, inclusive, and vibrant workforce that benefits both the individuals and the broader society. Supporting equal employment opportunities and advocating for a more inclusive workforce will not only benefit the Urdu community but also contribute to the overall socio-economic development of Kuwait and Abu Dhabi.
